Infrastructure Manager / Lead IT&IS Engineer


Job Purpose

Management of infrastructure and support desk.


Essential Experience

=        Line management experience

=        Broad technical skill set

=        Proficiency with Active Directory/Group Policy


Desirable Experience

=        Linux administration


Core Accountabilities

=        The Infrastructure Manager is accountable for:

=        Budget / Cost management

=        Internal data centres (servers, networks, telephone systems) and connected networks

=        Experience of working with AWS & Azure to support cloud-based infrastructure

=        Working knowledge of key AWS technologies with EC2 as a minimum

=        Development, documentation and implementation of contingency planning for internal data centres

=        Maintenance of architecture documentation for internal data centre

=        Desktop support function

=        Line management including mentoring and ensuring staff are appropriately trained

=        Development of SLA targets for systems and support

=        Technology procurement

=        Management of supplier relationships (hardware, software and services)

=        M&A infrastructure integrations

=        Advising of technology opportunities that would enhance the business’s competitive advantage

=        Management of technology projects

=        Implementing security protocols


Role/Department Specific Responsibilities

=        Service desk management

=        Work with the Security & Compliance manager to design and execute contingency planning

=        Maintain infrastructure risk register

=        Infrastructure supplier management

=        Provision desktops, phones and other hardware & software as required

=        Software deployment

=        Windows domain management

=        Network management & monitoring

=        Deploy updates & patches in a timely, piloted manner

=        Print management

=        Cloud service administration (AWS & Azure)

=        Firewall Management

=        Manage backup regimes & appliances


Personal Attributes

=        Good quality qualification in Computer Science, Networking or similar

=        Excellent documentation and communication skills

=        Proactive

=        Attentive to detail

=        Patient
