QA Tester

Test Analyst - The role of a QA Engineer/Test Analyst is to prove the quality of software products for release. You will test software products by producing and using test approaches, scripts, plans and packs - ensuring that software to be released meets the agreed requirements and department quality levels. As a member of the Development team you are required to ensure that the team responsibilities are met - maintaining a high standard of quality in its procedures, processes and the software produced.

Head of Development: “We’re looking for someone who has a good understanding of software architectures, and can get involved with performing queries and using tools to test the APIs, as well as some user-oriented testing. Someone from a background of QA on application to application testing, or API testing etc would be a good fit.”


• Prepare and use testing documents – test approaches, scripts, plans and packs
• Fault Fix testing – understand and replicate issues, retesting to ensure fully fixed
• New Feature testing – ownership, documentation, testing and user acceptance test
• Regression testing – repeat testing of basic functionality prior to release
• Installer testing
• Liaising with Tech Author to ensure new features/changes are documented accurately in the Help and Manuals
• Auditing results by checking through enquiries, lists etc that all correct updates are made
• Ad Hoc Testing including Support reported issues, Faults, Hot Fixes, Custom Patches
• Automated Testing - awareness of opportunities and limitations of tools to compliment manual testing procedures
• Quality of fault entries to be maintained so that fixes and fix testing can be done efficiently
• Ensure that all testing documentation and test databases are backed up on a daily basis
• Facilitate testing on product releases across different platforms

Skill set requirements:

• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team with effective communication skills, actual and virtual
• The ability to plan, prioritise and work on several projects at once
• An enthusiasm for proving the quality of the products – in testing, usability and functionality
• Proven ownership skills
• User support experience or a proven track record in understanding the user’s perspective
• The ability to quickly learn new applications and technologies
