What’s Going To Happen In 2012?

Well there’s a leading question to start the New Year!

One thing we can be sure of is that Asset Resourcing will continue to offer unrivalled service to clients and candidates across our four industry sectors – IT, Admin & Clerical, Accountancy & Finance and Sales & Marketing.

As far as the recruitment industry goes (and this is relevant across virtually all industry sectors), the future is notoriously hard to predict but we are sure that mobile technology, social media and what is referred to as ‘the cloud’ will be playing prominent roles in how we conduct our business over the next 12-18 months.

2012 Technology

We read an online article this week that asked a number of industry experts what developments will most impact the recruitment industry during 2012. Here’s what some of them said –

David Johnston, Senior Business Development Manager, 4MAT – ‘The world of recruitment needs to maximise mobile in terms of mobile-specific websites and apps in the same way retail and other online business have. Secondly, brand trust is paramount and one of the key ways to achieve this is through relevant content to create a personal user experience’.

Dan Martin, MD, Broadbean – ‘Social Media will move from buzzword to genuine utility. Online profiles will enable talent pools to be kept up-to-date and relevant and clever use of recruitment technology will be vital to streamline this activity.’

Wendy McDougall, CEO, Firefish – ‘If recruiters want to make the most of mobile technology, they will have to start thinking like online marketers. Good SEO will draw in more candidates and the recruiters that get to grips with this type of marketing will be best placed to get the best results out of the technology available in 2012 and beyond.’  

Small Businesses & the UK Job Market

It’s no secret that small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and according to the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC), small businesses are more likely to hire new staff in the first half of 2012 than any other.

Employers will be naturally wary about bringing in new permanent staff, however “a significant number will consider bringing in new staff over the coming 6-12 months” says Kevin Green, Chief Executive of the REC.

“One priority in 2012 must be to address the current skills mismatch which means that many employers and recruiters are actually reporting a shortage of suitable candidates.

Throughout a tough year in theUKjobs market, demand for people in industries such as IT remains strong and there will continue to be high demand for specific IT roles through 2012”.
