Backend Engineer (Python) – Google Partner – Hybrid North London

They are on the lookout for a Backend Engineer to work on the creation and deployment of ground-breaking software solutions. As a Backend Engineer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, design, and QA
Key Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a cross-functional team to help drive the development of new features
- Ensure best practices and patterns: you will advocate and enforce best standards, and patterns. Your deep understanding of backend technologies will help you to guide your peers – ensuring that our code is of high quality.
- Work on automation and process improvement: you will increase efficiency, reliability, and scalability, by creating automated processes that improve development workflows.
- Promote engineering best practices.
- Collaborate and share knowledge: you will engage with the engineering community, using your expertise to contribute to events and knowledge-sharing initiatives. You will inspire and motivate your peers to learn – improving their capabilities.
Required Skills:
- Experience with designing and building REST APIs (ideally with Flask, FastAPI or similar.)
- Ability to design architectures to meet scalability, reliability and security targets.
- Good problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Understanding of best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns.
- Experience in automating builds (CI/CD), feature flags and automated testing.
Bonus skills:
- Experience with message driven systems (ideally google pub/sub)
- RDBMS skills (ideally postgres).
- Experience with some kind of no SQL db (document store/key value store) would be helpful.
- Experience with containerisation (Docker or kubernetes).
- GCP skills including configuration management (ideally using terraform).
- Experience with Google Cloud Build for CI/CD actions, deployments and builds.
