Head of Infrastructure (charity / not-for-profit sector) – hybrid work from home & central London (once or twice per week) model. This brand new role has been created to lead a dedicated infrastructure team of four staff members in order to develop and oversee the implementation of the information systems and IT infrastructure strategy, ensuring network security, compliance, and customer-centric solutions and support are in place to enable our charity client to achieve its strategic aims.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and implement the information systems and IT infrastructure strategy as they move to more agile ways of working to support a hybrid workforce across office and remote locations
  • Create and oversee the implementation of annual operating plans
  • Ensure continuous improvement and innovation supported by horizon scanning and industry analysis, seeking opportunities to improve with due consideration of cost effectiveness
  • Develop, lead and inspire a high performing IT team
  • Lead on the specification, selection, and implementation of IT systems, developing robust business cases, costings, and plans
  • Ensure all IT projects are properly planned, communicated and progressed throughout the project lifecycle and that a robust Change Control procedure is in place
  • Create / own IT and Cyber Security strategies, and policies and procedures
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to support the monitoring of performance
  • Collaborate effectively with the Head of CRM and other organisational leaders to ensure that the development and management of IT systems and resources are aligned to realising the overall data strategy

 

Person Specification:

 

  • Technical qualifications and/or experience in a related discipline
  • Demonstrable experience of operating at a strategic level in a senior IT role
  • Experience of overseeing IT services for office, remote and hybrid working environments
  • Applied knowledge of IT service strategy setting long-term objectives for IT services, service design to future proof our network architecture, and service transition to build and deploy new services
  • Demonstrable experience of successful project delivery and project management
  • Demonstrable experience of budget management and annual planning
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing IT service desk and back-office functions
  • Extensive knowledge supporting virtualised environments
  • Experience in Clustering, Active Directory, Group Policy, Permissions and
  • Experience of the OSI Layer 1 upwards
  • Extensive experience supporting Office 365, Exchange Online, and Azure cloud services
  • Experience and understanding of network communication protocols such as TCP/IP/IPX. Applied experience of advanced routing, diagnostic fault finding and configuration of network devices e.g. routers and switches
  • Experience of maintaining and supporting a remote desktop environment
  • Experience of supporting VoIP telephony systems
  • Experience of infrastructure security and a working knowledge of IT security best practice and security frameworks
  • Extensive experience procuring and working with IT service providers
  • Strong administrative skills with good attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and articulate clearly, written and verbally
