Senior Data Engineer – 9 month FTC

Senior Data Engineer (9 month fixed term contract (PAYE)) – Nationwide charity: as the technical Data / BI SME on a business-critical data strategy (embracing SQL BI, Python, Cloud tech, Big Data, Data Science), you will be reporting directly to the Head of IT and working closely with key stakeholders driving forwards adoption of better data integration and modelling through effective data warehousing to support analytics across the organisation.

You will engage a team of developers to deliver an organisation-wide ETL, data import, and master data management approach. This will be done while fostering an entrepreneurial and creative work ethic, and willingness to learn and adapt to emerging or different technologies. This role will support the delivery of appropriate analytics tools for insight leads in teams across the organisation to be able to build reports and dashboards.

Expected experience:

• Leading fast-paced deployment of data solutions in a range of settings
• Expert SQL Data Warehouse Developer with experience delivering enterprise data models, data warehousing and operational data stores, and developing data interfaces for reporting tools such as Power BI.
• Designing extract, transform and load (ETL) processes in a range of technologies e.g. SQL, Oracle Integration Cloud, Microsoft Azure technologies. Deploying data transformations, including data standardisation.
• Exploring Cloud technologies (ideally either Oracle products (Data Integrator, Autonomous Data Warehouse, Analytics Cloud, Cloud Infrastructure Data Catalog) or Microsoft products (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Power BI, Data Catalog, Knowledge Transfer and other Azure tools)
• Experience of object orientated programming, to enable bulk data manipulation and import procedures (e.g. using Python, R etc).
• Data profiling, data discovery, root cause analysis and cost-benef1 analysis
• Performance monitoring and tuning
• Developing metadata management approaches, data architecture repositories and architecture
modelling.
• Applying data governance and data quality principles to the full data lifecycle, ensuring data is of the right quality to enable effective processes, organisational and customer outcomes.

Technical Support Analyst – MSP

Our client is a successful Hertfordshire-based managed service provider (MSP) whose reputation for delivering excellent customer service demands they now hire an additional, Technical Support Engineer specifically to take responsibility for their back office systems (e.g. helpdesk software (Autotask), Remote management tool (N-Able), cloud backups etc.

September start planned.

Operating within a flat management structure, the successful 2nd Liner will provide the following responsibilities and duties:

– Deliver excellent service, exceeding the customer expectations wherever possible
– Accurately log incidents/ service requests, ensuring all relevant data is captured to enable quick and efficient resolution within SLA
– Keeping Customers informed on at all time on status and progress
– Participate in the process defined Incident, Change and Problem Management
– Escalate potential service issues initially with Team Leader/Service Desk to avoid customer dissatisfaction
– Deliver and maintain vendor management on behalf of the customer
– Business process awareness
– Drive the customer experience by executing the defined service desk process
– Perform Operational Checks on customer estates to ensure availability & Performance for core daytime operations

Preferred qualifications and Skills:

– Industry recognised qualification(s) ideal – MCP, MCSA, MCDT, MCSE, CCNA, CCNE, ETC.
– Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
– Clear and Polite telephone manner
– Ability to take ownership of and progress tickets to resolution
– Good Technical Aptitude

Office Manager

Office Manager: Reporting directly to the owner and responsible for two staff members, the post holder will be responsible for all output / input necessary for the running and administration of the business, including dealing with all day to day office needs, problems, and maintenance.

Main tasks are:

• Overall: the future development and improvement of systems, facilities, staff, and all communications with existing and future clients, in the most cost effective manner, to ensure the future strength and stability of the business for the benefit of all concerned.
• Prepare and issue Invoices & reconciliations / Reports & claims to appropriate authorities e.g. funding, grants etc / Orders for supplies of goods / Initial communication with customers by telephone & email re queries raised.
• The computer system to be brought into operation
• A robust system of debtor control to be implemented – with sensible reasonability tests
• The websites; one up and running, one still in progress

Required Experience:

• Capable of running most aspects of a small business, of identifying problems and prioritising the actions necessary to solve them.
• Innovative: will identify where improvements should be made and provide a sound case and method of implementing them will also identify practical solutions to problems arising
• Good Communicator with a broad spectrum of people (not all business or office minded)
• Enthusiastic; demonstrating the desire to become a pivotal part of the team, to promote the business and further its success

As a Data Engineering Consultant, you will have expertise in technical delivery, technologies and concepts in areas such as Data Storage, Data Ingestion, Data Integration, Data Warehousing, Data Preparation and Cloud Infrastructure.

Key Requirements:

c3+ years of experience in a data engineer role developing expert SQL skills PLUS a range of the following complementary skills:

Experience working with the Hadoop ecosystem (Spark, Hive/Impala, Databricks)
Programming background in Java, Scala, R or Python
Experience of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
Experience working with an ETL tool e.g. Azure Data Factory, SSIS & Talend

Social Media Executive

As our client’s Social Media Executive, your objective is to successfully manage all their social media output, educating and engaging with their existing / potential customers and, in turn, generating a regular flow of new business leads. You will support the owner’s business growth ambitions through the day-to-day running of social presences, constantly considering ways for new customers to engage with them.

Job Description:

  • To develop new business leads through successful management of the social media strategy.
  • Create and manage the daily social media accounts activity. This includes preparing posts, planning, scheduling posting, online advocacy, community-outreach efforts and partnerships with influencers.
